Can I read 50 books in 2014?

Reading is such a solitary activity, and one that virtually precludes multi-tasking. You can't pay attention to anything else while reading a book, or everything you're doing becomes compromised. Life gets in the way of literature. Things were easier in 1996, when I could tear through 50 Babysitter's Club books in a week. So, can I read 50 books in 2014? I have a job. I'm in school. I have a man and friends and a life. But it's possible. I even joined a book club this past September (hey ladies!).

I'll read on the train. I'll read on my lunch breaks. I'll read right before bed (which actually is the best way to fall asleep). My calculations show that if I read about one book per week, I'll meet my goal by the end of 2014.

I don't know which 50 books I will read.  I want to read lots of classics, but lots of newly released titles. I love fiction, but am not opposed to non-fiction. I have several books I've recently bought or been gifted that are awaiting my attention. I'll read what I am destined to read, and share the results with whoever may be reading this. Maybe it will inspire you to read the same book, or to not read a book you were undecided about. Or maybe you'll just read about my reading, and be content with that. I will be, too.

See you in 2014!
