Can I read 50 books in 2014?

Reading is such a solitary activity, and one that virtually precludes multi-tasking. You can't pay attention to anything else while reading a book, or everything you're doing becomes compromised. Life gets in the way of literature. Things were easier in 1996, when I could tear through 50 Babysitter's Club books in a week. So, can I read 50 books in 2014? I have a job. I'm in school. I have a man and friends and a life. But it's possible. I even joined a book club this past September (hey ladies!).

I'll read on the train. I'll read on my lunch breaks. I'll read right before bed (which actually is the best way to fall asleep). My calculations show that if I read about one book per week, I'll meet my goal by the end of 2014.

I don't know which 50 books I will read.  I want to read lots of classics, but lots of newly released titles. I love fiction, but am not opposed to non-fiction. I have several books I've recently bought or been gifted that are awaiting my attention. I'll read what I am destined to read, and share the results with whoever may be reading this. Maybe it will inspire you to read the same book, or to not read a book you were undecided about. Or maybe you'll just read about my reading, and be content with that. I will be, too.

See you in 2014!

  1. I love this idea! Love it love it! I made a goal to read about 2 books a month and so far, I've kept up with it pretty well, only i don't feel inclined to do a review on all of them. Recently, I've become infatuated with the BookTube community on YouTube and wanted to start a channel dedicated to doing reviews on the books I'm reading, but i haven't done it yet. I'm going to skim through and read some of your reviews and decide which ones I want to do myself, so thanks for the recommendations!

BTW, did you have a blog at some point called 'Dana Jeanius' or something of the sort? If so, I used to follow you from my old blog (The Sweetheart Chronicles). If not, just disregard that whole awkward 're-introduction' , lol

Glad I found you...possibly again (via Twenties Unscripted)!

    1. Hi! Yes, it's me! I think I saw you comment on my pubic hair post? Lol well I definitely remember you from the golden blogging days circa 2009 or so...its great to meet again! Glad you found this site and that it can be of use to you in your reading. I love logging things, just always keeping track of what I've done/where I've been/etc. So this blog format made sense and excited me. I was also slightly inspired by a blog Bill Gates keeps, just a list of books he's currently reading (which is a LOT). Anyway thanks again for commenting and I hope we keep in touch!! ;)
